Although a self trained guitarist, Kenny trained for 7 years with vocal coach and president of the singing teachers association, the now late great Niven Miller before winning two major scholarships to the prestigious Royal Northern college of Music.
He's been a professional since the early 80's and worked with many of the worlds greatest performers such as Benny & Bjorn, Elaine Paige, Michael's Ball, Barrymore and Crawford... and that's just the Michael's... He starred as Jesus in SUPERSTAR having worked his way up from the chorus of the west end production.
Kenny was a professional actor in the West End and internationally known by his stage name of Richard Courtice. In 1986 he was a heat winner on the TV series New Faces, and went on to several TV appearances with other stars from Lonnie Donegan to Misha Paris! His largest live audience (so far!) is 67 thousand at Sunderland stadium of Light and on TV its 17 million for New Faces.From 1980, Kenny appeared in many professional productions all over the country, His debut was at The Arcadia Theatre in Llandudno where he sang in summer season, by 1982 he was performing in Cameron Mackintosh's West End production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He started in the chorus, and via 'Peter' ended up performing the role of Jesus. (pictured) He then toured the country in several professional productions as Jesus. This was the start of a string of musicals including 'Pirates of Penzance' in Manchester with Michael Ball, Paul Nicholas, Victor Spinetti, and Bonnie Langford. 'Barnum' with Michael Crawford, 'Chess' with Elaine Paige and Tommy Korberg, working with RSC director Trevor Nunn, Benny & Bjorn from Abba and Sir Tim Rice.
